Latin Explorer is a small, free study aid for students learning Latin, run by Unserpas Design, LLC (“we”, “us”). We collect as little as we can, we never sell or share it for advertising, and there are no ads or tracking scripts on this site.
What we collect
- Your sign-in details: your email address and, if you sign in with Microsoft, the name on your Microsoft account.
- Your practice: which unit you're on, your answers, what you got right or wrong, when each item is due for review, and coins or badges you earn.
- Your settings: things like text size or Strict macrons.
We don't ask for birthdays, addresses, phone numbers, photos or grades, and we don't read your school email, files, or anything else in your Microsoft account.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep you signed in on your devices.
- To save your progress and choose what to practise next.
- To let invited students see class materials.
- To find and fix problems with the site.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
Who helps us run the site
These services store or process data for us, only to run Latin Explorer:
- Supabase: our database and sign-in system (data stored in the United States).
- Vercel: hosts the website. Like most hosts, it keeps short-lived request logs (such as IP addresses) for security and troubleshooting.
- Resend: sends the sign-in code emails.
- Microsoft: if you choose “Sign in with your school account”, Microsoft confirms who you are and tells us your name and email.
Who can see your progress
You can, and so can the site administrator, who uses it to fix problems and improve the lessons. Other students can't. If we ever add a parent or teacher view, it will show your progress only to people you or your parent have agreed to, and this page will be updated first.
Students and parents
Latin Explorer is meant for high school students. If you're under 13, a parent or guardian must agree before you use it. Parents can ask to see, correct, or delete their child's information at any time by emailing us.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and progress until you ask us to delete them. After deletion, copies in our backups are gone within 30 days.
Keeping it safe
Everything is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access rules in the database mean each account can only read what it's allowed to.
Your choices
Email contact@latinexplorer.app to get a copy of your data, fix something, or delete your account. We'll answer within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this page, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how your information is used, we'll tell you on the site before it takes effect.
